The foreign software is pulling out of Russia – what does it mean for the national mining industry?

On March 29, 2022, the Forpost North-West online media published an article “The foreign software is pulling out of Russia – what does it mean for the national mining industry?” The material is based on an expert opinion of Mikhail Kornilov, one of the AGR founders.

The article considers the large potential domestic software used in the mining industry, and also outlines the challenges the Russian developers face. By some quirk of fate, most often these difficulties may be caused by their own success in promoting the Western technologies in the past. Nevertheless, thanks to the vast knowledge accumulated over the time and the announced government support measures for the IT industry, we can expect that in 5-7 years the foreign software will be replaced to a large extent, at least in the sphere of solid minerals.

To drive forward the changes, AGR Software tends to focus on further development and promotion of the AGR project. We truly believe that every company in the mining industry, whether it is a large subsoil user, a startup or a service company, now needs a modern, affordable and user-friendly IT tool for managing geological information. Providing such a tool for all industry players is our main objective.
